Roanoke Rapids police are looking for a man who allegedly bilked an elderly victim out of $3,000 by writing checks to himself and forging the victim's name.

Investigator Frankie Griffin said the victim was a family member of a friend and over the course of a month — from December to January — 11 checks were stolen and forged.

Griffin said Patrick Epps is believed to be from the Virginia area where he has convictions for similar crimes. He also has convictions for the same crime in North Carolina.

Epps has moved from job to job and at one time worked in West Virginia as well as Georgia, Griffin said.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call Griffin at 252-533-2810 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
