
The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:
June 5
Around 10:30 p.m., Lieutenant Jeff Baggett stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Chockoyotte Street.
Baggett noticed an open container of alcohol in the console of the vehicle. A subsequent search led to the discovery of illegal narcotics.
Baggett arrested and charged Abra Banks Jr., 28, of Roanoke Rapids with possession with intent to manufacture,sell, or deliver schedule II and possession of schedule II.
Banks was given a $1,500 bond and a July 10 court date.
Master Officer Gorton Williams assisted.
June 6
Around 7 p.m., Officer Jeffrey Mason responded to a disturbance call in the 400 block of Oak Street.
After speaking with the victim and noticing injuries to the face, Mason arrested and charged Mack Arthur Shearin Jr., 28, of Roanoke Rapids, with assault inflicting serious injury.
Shearin was given a $1,000 bond and a June 12 court date.
Baggett, Sergeant Mike Moseley and Officer Greg Colson assisted.
Around 10:45 p.m., Williams responded to a larceny call at Walmart.
Loss prevention told him that Victoria Jean-Marie Boyd, 19, and Brandon Edward Reeves, 23, both of Roanoke Rapids, had allegedly taken items from the store without paying for them.
Williams arrested and charged Boyd with larceny and possession of stolen goods and Reeves with aid and abet larceny and larceny.
They were given $1,000 bonds and July 7 court dates.
Around midnight, Baggett responded to a domestic disturbance in the 900 block of Vance Street.
After speaking with both parties involved and noticing injuries to both, he arrested Eric Ellis Short, 41, of Roanoke Rapids, for assault on a female and Barbara Ann Hudson, 45, of Roanoke Rapids, for assault.
Both were held without the opportunity bond and given July 10 court dates.

June 7
Around 1:50 a.m., Moseley and Williams responded to Becker Drive for an illegal parking call.
After having several cars removed, the officers spoke with Sarah Unique Hyman, 31, of Roanoke Rapids.
The officers discovered she had outstanding orders for arrest for driving while license revoked and resisting, delaying, and obstructing officer.
Hyman was arrested on the order for arrest and also charged with resisting, delaying and obstructing an officer because she gave a false name.
Hyman was given an $8,000 bond and a July 10 court date.
Around 10:30 p.m., Officer Adam Salmon responded to Cook Out about a person soliciting money.
When Salmon located the man, he attempted to walk away even after several commands to stop.
Other officers arrived in the area and located the man, Junior Devon Williams, 32, of Conway.
Williams was arrested and charged with resisting, delaying, and obstructing an officer.
A warrant check of Williams revealed an outstanding warrant from Hertford County for robbery with a dangerous weapon.
Williams was given a $25,500 bond and a July 10 court date.
