A Hollister man was arrested early this morning after reportedly dropping crack cocaine after an encounter with a Halifax County Sheriff's Office sergeant.
Major Scott Hall said in a statement Sergeant Eric Johnson stopped to talk to a man walking on Highway 561 around midnight.

He observed the man, later identified as Edward Dwayne Lee, 52, drop items on the ground.
Johnson determined the man dropped crack cocaine and arrested him. During the process Lee attempted to flee but was captured.
Johnson charged Lee with possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a concealed weapon after a razor was found and resisting a public officer. He was also served an order for arrest for failure to appear.
Lee received a $2,500 bond and February 24 court date.
